Yes i have. No it was not hard to get them, as I am currently destroying an abandoned house block by block searching for treasure. I have had luck! I found a hidden chest which had a buttload of tools (ranging from stone to iron) and in and gold ingots to build armor with.
Crafted a full diamond set a few times (lost two sets). First time, I was too trusting and acted like a newb and got killed... then had my character get reset so lost all my stuff and had to start over again. Diamond is rare but not too hard to find, I really don't mine iron ore anymore except to make sure I replenish enough to make more tools because it isn't that rare

It was not hard getting.It was underwater iron.

It is hard for me to find ore :((( i always die underground (((
