Currently you'll see redstone as not being the most useful block, but you can use it to make a poison potion, also if a pocadmin reads this, I noticed gold nuggets pop up as a usable resource when making potions, but you can not use them to do anything unless you make a glistening melon/carrot, will it have another use in the next update?
Kieranb, you can also you it to craft gold ingots from gold nuggets.
