Farming Melon and Pumpkin is a difficult process at the first sight, but in the real, this is not it. The are only one really hard thing is to find melon and pumpkin blocks in the infinite world. The tips and tricks in this news will help you to easily and effectively grow melons and pumpkins.

Of course, before we do any farming, we need first to know how to farm. Please read our previous news about Farming Basics!

Start with searching melon and pumpkin blocks in the Overworld. Then use these blocks to craft melon and pumpkin seeds in the workbench!

When you made a hydrated farmland surrounded with fences and lights, you are ready for farming melons and pumpkins.

Plant a seed in each farmland block by clicking it while holding a melon or pumpkin seed.

Melons and pumpkins don’t grow on the block you planted it. Instead, a pumpkin or melon will spawn on any available grass or dirt block next to the fully grown pumpkin or melon stalk. This means you need to leave some space between each row of seeds you plant or else nothing will grow. Note that only 1 pumpkin or melon block can spawn per melon or pumpkin stalk, but more than 1 stalk can attach itself to a single pumpkin.

If a pumpkin or melon stalk spawns a pumpkin or melon, all other stalks of the same type next to that pumpkin or melon will attach themselves to it, which means they won’t grow another melon or pumpkin until you destroy the one they’re attached to.

Tips and Tricks for Efficient Farming Melons and Pumpkins

When you go far from the chunks where you have just planted melon and pumpkin seeds, the growing process stops. Stay online on the chunks where your plants are growing or leave your team-players there.

Pumpkin and Melon Seeds need to grow through 8 stage to harvest Pumpkins and Melons. Over time, they grow into a steam and produce pumpkins and melons.

Harvest pumpkin and melons, when they grown, but don't touch steam. As melons and pumpkins will grow more faster from steams, then from seeds next time.

pocadmin, Why should we add fences??

BlueTangs Rock3

Shadow_Lurker,we aren't required to add fences,since it can work without them,but it's a nice atmospheric detail. :)

BlueTangs Rock3, yes, - as a decorative material and to not to allow mobs to walk on your plants.

BlueTangs Rock3, That's what I thought lol. I somewhat felt that the containment of protected plants help growth, but I guess not.

Shadow_Lurker, of course not, but if consider that mobs can walk on farmland and then these blocks can be reverted to dirt block - so better to use fences! laugh

I've actauuly realized.. If you put glowstone blocks on top of EVERY plant space, it makes speed growth slower. Only put one in the middle, and 4 on the corners of your SMALL farm. On a big farm, ever 4x4 space put a block up
