Lol mine near bedrock with a iron or diamond pickaxe lol

It's best 12 blocks above the last bedrock layer block, but 16 blocks above the last bedrock layer block is the max elevation, anywhere higher, and you won't find them. The highest natural bedrock layer is elevation 4 if that helps.
Use tnt dude clear out a gem system then fix it so lava wont come in the mine than enjoy mining

kill yourself on a bedrock and u will go to the diamond world
