Here you can find a detailed information about How to Start Brewing and Brew Basic Potions!
To start brewing process you need:
1. Brewing Stand (can be crafted from 3 Cobblestone + 1 Blaze Rod).
2. Blaze Powder (can be crafted from Blaze Rod). You can brew about 20 potions using 1 Blaze Powder.
3. Base Ingredients (Nether Wart (can be obtained after killing aggressive mobs with probability of 10%), Glowstone Dust (can be obtained after killing aggressive mobs with probability of 5%), Redstone Dust (can be mined with Iron Pickaxe), Fermented Spider Eye (can be crafted from1 Brown Mushroom, 1 Sugar and 1 Spider Eye).
4. Water Bottles (You need to craft Glass Bottles from Glass, then fill in Glass Bottles with Water).
Base Potions are Awkward, Mundane, Mundane (extended), Thick Potions and Potion of Weakness.
Awkward Potion can be obtained through brewing using Nether Wart as a base ingredient and Water Bottle. Awkward potion can be drunk, but it will not give any effect to the player. But this is a base of most potions.
Mundane Potion can be obtained through brewing using Sugar (and other ingredients such as Ghast Tear, Spider Eye etc.) as a base ingredient and Water Bottle. Mundane Potion can be drunk, and it will not give any effect to the player too.
Mundane (extended) Potion can be obtained through brewing using Redstone Dust as a base ingredient and Water Bottle. Mundane Potion (extended) can be drunk, but it will not give any effect to the player too.
Thick Potion can be obtained through brewing using Glowstone Dust as a base ingredient and Water Bottle. Thick Potion can be drunk, but it will not give any effect to the player.
Potion of Weakness can be obtained through brewing using Fermented Spider Eye as a base ingredient and Water Bottle. Potion of Weakness can be drunk and it will give effect to the player for 1:30 minutes : reducing all melee attacks by 4 damage.

I accidentally made 3 potions of strength when I mean to do fire resistance cause I accidentally used blaze power instead of turning it to magma cream first.... Lol
