Some suggestions are:
Bone Meal, Fertilizer, etc. Anything that speeds the growing of crops. Maybe instead of bone meal, add Fertilizer which can be crafted from Oak Leaves, Wooden Blocks, or any organic material. See, imagine this.. Imagine having something like the crafting bench but it is called a Compost Bin. You put in organic material, like Seeds, Apples, Carrots, Potatoes, Beetroot, Wheat, Leaves, and after a bit of waiting, like the furnace, you get fertilizer, which looks like Dirt Dust or something.
(I've said this before.) Make Boss Mobs, which randomly spawn uncommonly, which drop Rare Items, which you craft onto a tool that will enchance it. Like enchantments. Yet instead of it being books, or an enchantment table, please add a slot to the crafting bench called "Fuse." You use this to make weapons stronger, but since this will be added you should add a bit less damage to normal swords so enchantments are more needed. For example, imagine a boss mob that looks like an Iron Golem yet a lot different, called a gaurdian, and it drops a Gaurdian Emblem, which you fuse with armor for extra defense. Maybe there could be a mob that regenerates life, which it will drop an item making durability longer. This would be a great addition to the game to make it unique and more fun!
Something to catch fish, like a fishing pole, stick and string, etc. Fish would be a neat addition to the game, and mobs won't drop anymore of those glitched Pufferfish, which they keep in their pockets for some reason.
Different tree saplings! Tired of using oak wood for EVERYTHING. -_-
Make a higher ore spawn whenever normally mining! I hate having to explore those ungrateful caves for a few stacks of iron. Can't we just do the old fasioned mining?
Higher Apple Spawn Rate!
Higher Flint Spawn Rate!
Lower Spider Spawn Rate during the day! It's actually pretty sad whenever I see some noob died from a spider while punching a tree.
Ability to use Lapis Lazuli in Potions to make them Throwable. Lapis has no use but a simple Clan Currency.
Ability to use redstone to make simple things work! Such as opening a trapdoor, for traps.
Pressure plates for traps!
Dispensers for Traps!
Tripwire for traps!
Stop the Monsters in Spawn!

TUO, What about it? Nothing I suggested it related to it lol, apart from composter lol but you have to wait to get fertilizer. You dont get compost dirt you get fertilizer.

They could use lapis for enchantment tables(like on MineCraft),or can add lapis ingots which could craft between stone and Iron tier tools,also dyes are coming soon supposedly. Also the fertilizer idea is great,but bonemeal should be in the game too. :) Also they should increase the sapling drop rate,and should make leaves drop other things like sticks&eggs(the eggs are to represent nests or something). Also it would be cool if the fish were actual mobs,since there's currently no life in the game's lakes,rivers,and oceans,and they could make pufferfish a neutral mob,which will chase&poison you if attacked,but under normal circumstances are passive. :D Also they could add more than just MineCraft's 4 fish types,and make certain fish biome exclusive,like clownfish only being found in the ocean,or a freshwater type fish only being found in lakes,ponds,or rivers,but make swamps a place where almost all of them can be found,since slot of swampy places have brackish water(both fresh&salt water)! :D

Also I agree that monsters should stay away from spawn,and animals become very,very rare in the spawn zones,to prevent even more of the lag there.
