Well, Private Chests are the PoC equivalent to MineCraft's Ender Chests (they function the same way, and they even have the same particle effects), and those are craft able, and MineCraft seems to be ok with the ability for you to mine, craft, place, and move around your ender chests as many times as you want, and an Ender Chest is crafted by 8 obsidian, and 1 Eye of Ender, so they're not too cheap, and when mined, the ender chests only drop 8 obsidian instead of dropping it's self, meaning you have to keep getting Eye of Enders to craft an Ender Chest each time you mine it, unless you mine it with a pickaxe with the silk touch enchantment (which enchantments in general don't exist yet in PoC). So it is a fair enough thing to add to the crafting table.
it's not a glitch that Private Chests don't have a crafting recipe, it's currently an intentional feature until someone changes the developers minds, and codes it in. The suggestions category would be a better place to go with this.
